Woke up to a nice fresh SE breeze so decided to go for a windsurfin session. Arrived at 1ish only to find he wind had dropped to a lowly 10mph. Decided to rig up anyway in case the wind filled in once again.
Hardly any wind to start of. Once I got out of the shelter, the wind filled in a bit more but it wasn't quite enough to be planin. Had a few tacks and then headed back to the car for a sandwich.
I was completely surrounded by thunderstorms, every where I looked were strikes of lightning and the constant rumble of thunder as well as the heavy rain in the distance. One of the upwind storms would soon come my way so I thought I'd get another few tacks in before it arrived.
The wind had now filled in a bit, helped by the approaching storm. Managed to get on the plane a few times by sailing a considerable distance from my launch point. Was having fun so just kept going and then eventually decided to turn round. The approaching storm took me by surprise and was now almost upon me so I decided to quickly get back to the car. The constant lightning flashes and thunder around got me a bit worried and the heavens opened so it was a rush to get back to the shoreline as the wind had now picked up as well.
I was still a good 1/4 mile out and the offshore wind was picking up all the time, soon became maxed out on the 6.3 but made it to the shoreline safely. 10 mins later, the storm had passed, the wind had died and the sun was out which was pretty pleasent for derigging.
